Iberia has unveiled an Airbus A320neo sporting a special, comprehensive livery inspired by Disneyland Paris’s Disney Adventure World theme park. The inaugural flight, which carried a group of children from the Juegaterapia Foundation, marks a new milestone in the airline’s strategic partnership and coincides with the historic celebration of the carrier’s connection between Madrid and the French capital.
Technical Details of the Decal Installation Process in Barcelona
The aircraft’s fuselage was customized using over a hundred large-format vinyl panels, with individual dimensions reaching up to 14 meters wide by 7 meters high. This heavy-duty material fully covers the aft half of both sides of the aircraft’s fuselage.
The installation work was carried out at Iberia’s maintenance hangar in Barcelona. The process required the deployment of four technicians qualified in this type of specialized intervention, logging more than 200 man-hours. With this addition, the airline currently boasts six wrapped aircraft in its fleet, this being the second developed under its strategic alliance with Disneyland Paris.
Two Sides for Two Animated Universes
The aircraft’s exterior design delivers a distinct visual impact on each of its profiles, paying tribute to two of the franchise’s most recognizable characters:
- Left side: Entirely dedicated to Olaf, the famous character from World of Frozen.
- Right side: Starring Buzz Lightyear, the iconic astronaut and symbol of Worlds of Pixar.

A Special Flight with the Juegaterapia Foundation
The initial flight to Paris-Orly Airport had an estimated duration of 1 hour and 50 minutes, under the command of Captain Víctor Daroqui López. The guests of honor on this flight were 30 children from the Juegaterapia Foundation accompanied by their families, who are traveling to enjoy a two-day stay at the European resort as part of both companies’ social commitment to bringing joy to children undergoing medical treatment.
The inflight experience was enhanced with customized elements in the passenger cabin to extend the theme to the aircraft’s interior:
- Exclusive themed headrest covers on every seat in the cabin.
- Distribution of a selection of the theme park’s most iconic souvenirs.
- Tailored inflight service featuring a special World of Frozen-themed cookie.
Disney Adventure World: The Second Park’s Expansion
The rollout of this aircraft coincides with the transformation of the European tourist destination’s second theme park, officially renamed Disney Adventure World on March 29. This remodeling and expansion project has effectively doubled the park’s footprint, introducing immersive lands inspired by stories from Disney, Pixar Animation Studios, and Marvel.
- Central Lake: The park’s new centerpiece will serve as the stage for the Disney Cascade of Lights nighttime spectacular, a technical showcase combining drones, water screens, fountains, fire, and pyrotechnics.
- World of Frozen: A fully immersive land inspired by the kingdom of Arendelle, featuring a faithful 36-meter-high recreation of the North Mountain and the new Frozen Ever After family attraction.
Historical Evolution: The Anniversary of the Madrid-Paris Route
This special flight directly aligns with the anniversary of the launch of Iberia’s operations to the French capital, offering a stark contrast to the company’s operational evolution.
On July 1, 1949, the inaugural flight IB162 took off from Madrid at 10:30 AM, operated by a Douglas DC-4 Skymaster propliner, landing in Paris at 2:15 PM before continuing its route to London-Heathrow Airport.
Today, the capacity and efficiency of the route reflect the technological leap in commercial aviation:
| Operational Concept | Historical Link (1949) | Modern Operation (Present) |
|---|---|---|
| Primary aircraft | Douglas DC-4 Skymaster | Airbus A320neo |
| Daily frequencies | One weekly / combined leg | Up to 11 daily flights |
| Passenger capacity | 66 seats | 186 seats |
With the introduction of this themed aircraft, Iberia and Disneyland Paris not only strengthen their commercial and transport alliance but also transform the aircraft itself into the very beginning of the holiday experience for passengers flying between Spain and France.
