Dmitry Yadrov, head of the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia), officially presented the reissued type certificate for the IL-114 aircraft to Daniil Brenerman, Managing Director of JSC Il (a subsidiary of PJSC Rostec’s UAC). Signed during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2026), this document formalizes the inclusion of the IL-114-300 variant, legally validating the aircraft’s readiness for serial production and commercial operations.
Deep Modernization and Technical Capabilities of the IL-114-300
The development of the IL-114-300 represents a comprehensive upgrade over the original IL-114 turboprop platform. According to statements by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, companies within the state-owned Rostec conglomerate executed a complete re-engineering of virtually all aircraft systems.
The IL-114-300 features the following technical and operational characteristics:
- Passenger Capacity: Designed with a baseline 66-seat configuration, with an overall operational range layout spanning between 50 and 68 seats.
- Powerplant: Equipped with new, Russian-manufactured turboprop engines.
- Flight Systems: Incorporates modern avionics alongside a digital flight and navigation system.
- Cabin Interior: Passenger cabin redesigned based on ergonomic criteria.
This aircraft is strategically slated to replace aging, Soviet-designed Antonov An-24 and Antonov An-26 models across regional connectivity networks.
Lease Agreements and Delivery Schedule
During the SPIEF-2026 event, a commercial agreement was finalized between the State Transport Leasing Company (GTLK) and the 2nd Arkhangelsk United Aviation Squadron for the financial lease of the first three IL-114-300 units. The airline operates regional passenger services, mail transport, cargo, aerial photography operations, as well as medical and search-and-rescue missions.
According to data provided by Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin and Denis Manturov, the delivery timeline and fleet integration schedule are projected as follows:
- 2026: Delivery of the first three aircraft is anticipated.
- 2027: An additional batch of three units is scheduled for delivery.
- 2028: Far Eastern Russian carrier Aurora Airlines projects the receipt of its first airframes starting this year, marking the period when production rates are anticipated to ramp up.
- 2029: A phase during which the ramp-up of manufacturing output at the factory facilities is expected to stabilize at a steady, rhythmic pace.
Supply Chain Adjustments and Future Outlook
The program will experience a temporary slowdown in delivery volumes over a one-year period. Denis Manturov explained that this situation stems from the aircraft contracting process briefly decoupling from the timeline required to finalize the model’s certification procedures.
Despite this initial schedule adjustment, both the government and the manufacturer emphasize strong market interest in the turboprop. Beyond regional passenger transport, the IL-114-300 has developmental prospects tailored to fulfill special missions for the Ministry of Defense as well as dedicated cargo operations. The latter logistics variant would require the installation of a wide main-deck cargo door specifically designed to facilitate direct pallet loading into the cabin.
