United Airlines has announced the launch of two new strategic routes from the United States to Mexico for the upcoming winter season. These additions will not only expand direct connectivity options for passengers but will also solidify the carrier’s position as the US airline with the most robust network in Mexican territory, reaching a total of 25 destinations served nationwide.
Historic Connectivity: Tuxtla Gutiérrez Joins United’s Global Network
Starting October 28, 2026, the airline will inaugurate year-round scheduled service between Houston and Tuxtla Gutiérrez International Airport.
This operation holds historic significance for the region, as United will become the only carrier to provide a direct connection between the state of Chiapas and the United States. Since 2025, the company has focused its strategy on opening unprecedented markets in Mexico out of Houston, having previously added Puerto Escondido and Tepic-Riviera Nayarit to its network.
Route Operational Details
The service will operate three times a week (Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays) utilizing Embraer 175 regional aircraft. These jets will be equipped with complimentary, high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity powered by Starlink.

Consolidation in the Leisure Segment: New Route to Los Cabos
To boost inbound tourism from the US East Coast during the winter, United will launch nonstop flights between Washington-Dulles and Los Cabos International Airport starting October 25, 2026.
With this new link, San José del Cabo becomes the second Mexican destination to be simultaneously connected to all seven of United’s major hubs in the United States (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, New York/Newark, San Francisco, and Washington D.C.).
Route Details
The route will be deployed on Boeing 737 narrowbody aircraft with four weekly frequencies (Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays). During the peak holiday demand period in December, the service will scale up to a daily frequency.
- Washington – Los Cabos: Departure at 08:30 – Arrival at 12:08

The airline’s leadership underscores the commercial and tourism value of these markets. Tom Kozlowski, Senior Director of Network Planning for Latin America and Hawaii at United Airlines, highlighted that these additions aim to strengthen commercial ties, reunite communities, and incentivize American travelers to explore more regions within Mexico.
The airline’s official sales channels, including its website and mobile app, have already opened bookings for both winter services.
