Colombia Air Transport Grows 5.1% Between January and July 2026 After Handling 34.3 Million Passengers

Colombia’s commercial aviation sector consolidated a positive growth trend during the first seven months of 2026. Between January and July, a total of 34.3 million passengers traveled by air nationwide, marking a 5.1% increase compared to the same period in 2025, driven by strong domestic market momentum and international segment stability.

Sustained Growth in Domestic and International Passenger Traffic

According to provisional figures from the Civil Aviation Authority’s Analytics Office (AEROCIVIL), 5.3 million passengers moved through the country’s airport network in July 2026 alone.

Domestic market performance served as the primary driver of this cumulative growth:

Operational Performance of Cargo and Mail Transport

The air cargo and mail transport segment also maintained upward trends between January and July 2026, primarily driven by international operational volume.

In July 2026 alone, throughput reached 78,432 metric tons of cargo and mail, representing an increase of 5,310 metric tons (+7.26%) compared to July of the previous year.

Over the first seven months, the system handled 584,263 metric tons (+5.8%). The international market accounted for the vast majority of cargo operations at 501,718 metric tons, while the domestic market recorded 82,545 metric tons.

The outlook points to the continued consolidation of Colombia’s passenger and air cargo traffic throughout the remainder of 2026.
