Following the temporary suspension of air services caused by the earthquakes on June 24, Copa Airlines announced Thursday the reactivation of its operations to and from the Venezuelan capital. Service will resume with a daily flight connecting Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía—serving Caracas—with Tocumen International Airport in Panama City.
With Caracas returning to its active route network, the airline will reach a total of 29 weekly frequencies between Panama and Venezuela in September. This allows Copa Airlines to restore operations to all authorized destinations in Venezuelan territory, serving airports in Caracas, Maracaibo, Valencia, Barquisimeto, and Barcelona.
Operational Impact and Strategic Network Reach
Restoring this route marks a crucial step toward recovering international air traffic in Venezuela’s central region. Roberto Pulido, General Manager for Copa Airlines in Venezuela, highlighted the historical and commercial significance of the market:
