EasyJet Integrates i6 Application to Optimize Refueling and Reduce Emissions

easyJet has announced a new partnership with aviation technology provider i6 Group to deploy the eHandshake digital refueling platform across its entire route network. This tool will comprehensively modernize the way aviation fuel is ordered, delivered, and verified, integrating directly into the ETechlog platform currently utilized by flight crews.

The initiative is part of the airline’s ongoing strategy to enhance the quality of operational data, prevent unnecessary fuel tankering, and drive greater operational efficiency both on the ground and in flight.

Digitalizing Fuel Management: Precision and Sustainability

By replacing traditional paper-based processes with a unified digital workflow, eHandshake connects pilots, fuel suppliers, and operations teams in real time. This digital ecosystem streamlines communication and increases the accuracy of fuel orders and dispatches, which will also prevent the estimated consumption of 600,000 sheets of paper per year.

The technology provides end-to-end visibility and control over refueling across the airline’s network, ensuring that each aircraft receives strictly the amount required for its flight segment. By avoiding the carriage of unnecessary weight—and the associated additional fuel burn required to transport that extra mass—easyJet projects a reduction of up to 10,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide annually.
