Akasa Air in Talks With Boeing for Over 200 737 MAX Jets
India’s youngest carrier, Akasa Air, is in discussions with US planemaker Boeing to acquire more than 200 737 MAX jets, a strategic move aimed at securing its fleet delivery pipeline for the next decade.
An Ambitious Fleet Expansion Plan
According to people familiar with the matter who spoke to Bloomberg, the Indian carrier aims to significantly expand its market share in commercial aviation through a substantial influx of narrowbody aircraft.
The airline, which launched commercial operations in 2022, currently holds an existing backlog of 183 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft pending delivery.
Looking Ahead to the Next Decade
With this potential deal under negotiation, Akasa Air seeks to lock in a steady stream of aircraft deliveries to support sustainable fleet growth and strengthen long-term operations, maintaining its expansion trajectory well beyond 2032.
