American Airlines and STARLUX Airlines have launched a new codeshare partnership aimed at expanding flight options between North America and Taipei. The agreement allows travelers to book nonstop itineraries to the Taiwanese capital on flights operated by the Asian carrier from the U.S. West Coast.
Network Expansion and Strategic North America–Asia Connectivity
This partnership is designed to address strong demand across corporate travel, leisure tourism, and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) traffic to Taipei—a premier destination renowned for its cultural heritage as well as its pivotal role in transpacific trade and strategic industries such as semiconductor manufacturing.
Commenting on the alliance, American Airlines Senior Vice President of Partnerships Anmol Bhargava stated: “Taipei remains a premier destination for global business, visiting friends and relatives, and leisure travel, and together with STARLUX Airlines, we are partnering to offer new travel options. This collaboration strengthens our global network and unlocks competitive new itineraries. We look forward to working with STARLUX on opportunities to make travel even more rewarding for customers.”
For his part, STARLUX Airlines Chief Executive Officer Glenn Chai noted:

Together, we can provide our passengers with a smoother, more convenient travel experience between two of the most dynamic regions in the world.”

Codeshare Route Breakdown
Under this agreement, American Airlines will place its marketing code on STARLUX-operated flights to Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) from the following U.S. gateways:
- Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
- Ontario International Airport (ONT)
- San Francisco International Airport (SFO)
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA)
Additionally, the U.S. carrier plans to place its code on STARLUX services between Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) and Taipei, subject to government and regulatory approvals.
Frequent Flyer Benefits and Passenger Experience
The integrated cooperation provides reciprocal frequent-flyer perks and access to premium cabin products:
- AAdvantage® Accrual: American Airlines loyalty program members can earn miles and Loyalty Points when booking STARLUX-operated codeshare flights.
- Distribution Channels and Fare Classes: Passengers can book itineraries across STARLUX’s Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class cabins directly via aa.com or the American Airlines mobile app.
- Onboard Product: In Business Class, STARLUX offers fully lie-flat suites with sliding privacy doors, while Premium Economy features calf rests and retractable footrests—amenities comparable to those fitted on American Airlines’ new Boeing 787-9s and retrofitted Boeing 777-300ERs.

Both airlines will continue exploring opportunities to expand cooperation for their customers, including future reciprocal mileage redemption and additional joint elite travel benefits under the partnership framework.
