American Airlines has unveiled its first reconfigured Boeing 777-300ER, marking a new era in its long-haul operations. The aircraft features the new Flagship Suite seats, offering the highest count of premium seats operated by any U.S. carrier.
A Design Focused on the Premium Passenger Experience
The Boeing 777-300ER retrofit boosts the airline’s high-end capacity, bringing the total count to 144 premium seats per aircraft. The new interior layout is designed to maximize comfort, privacy, and functionality in flight.
Cabin Layout and Key Features:
- Flagship Suite (70 seats): Each suite features sliding privacy doors, expanded personal storage space, and a unique chaise lounge seat position.
- Premium Economy (44 seats): Redesigned with sculpted headrests, adjustable leg rests and footrests, enhanced storage, wireless charging, dedicated water bottle holders, and USB-C and AC power ports.
- Main Cabin Extra (30 seats): Extra legroom seating located within the main cabin.
- Main Cabin: Equipped with inflight entertainment (IFE) technology providing access to hundreds of titles gate-to-gate.
The cabin interiors harmonize design elements previously introduced across the carrier’s Boeing 787-9 and Airbus A321XLR fleets, blending rich textures, mood lighting, and functional comfort.
Operational Rollout and Boeing 777-300ER Network
The airline’s fleet of 20 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft operates across its long-haul international network to key destinations, including:
- London
- Tokyo
- São Paulo
- Buenos Aires
- Sydney
The inaugural commercial flight for the reconfigured aircraft is scheduled for today, Wednesday, September 2, operating between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Buenos Aires’ Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE).
Exclusive Ground and Onboard Amenities
The Flagship experience spans every phase of travel, from the airport to destination arrival:
- Ground Services: Priority check-in, security line access, boarding, and baggage handling. Access to Flagship Lounges offering curated dining options and a premium wine and spirits list. Additionally, American announced expanded Flagship Dining access for all Flagship cabin passengers.
- Onboard Service: Multi-course meal service paired with curated wines, premium amenity kits, and specialized bedding featuring a seat mattress pad and a dual-sided cool-touch pillow.
- Connectivity: AAdvantage loyalty program members will receive complimentary gate-to-gate high-speed Wi-Fi, sponsored by AT&T.
Product Transition and Sunsetting of Flagship First on the Boeing 777-300ER:
With the rollout of the Flagship Suite, the airline is adjusting its front-cabin commercial structure:
- Flagship First on the Boeing 777-300ER: Will no longer be available for sale on these aircraft for travel starting November 19.
- Flagship First on Transcontinental Routes: As additional Airbus A321XLR aircraft join the fleet, the Flagship First product will be phased out on transcontinental flights starting March 28, 2027.
The Boeing 777-300ER retrofit solidifies the carrier’s strategy to standardize its long-haul offering around high-privacy suite seats and increased overall premium-cabin capacity.
