Delta Consolidates Leadership in Los Angeles with Largest Flight Schedule in its History for Summer 2027
Delta Air Lines has announced the largest flight schedule and most exclusive service offering in its history at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) for the summer of 2027. The airline, alongside its commercial partners, will exceed 200 daily departures to nearly 70 destinations, solidifying its position as the premier air carrier at the Californian hub.
Network Expansion: New Routes and Enhanced Domestic and International Connectivity
For the peak operational period of summer 2027, the carrier will be the only airline at LAX connecting the airport’s top 10 markets with multiple daily flights.
The network growth includes new non-stop additions:
- Monterey, California: Two daily frequencies operated by Delta Connection using Embraer 175 aircraft starting December 19, 2026. On that same date, a new non-stop daily flight between Salt Lake City and Monterey will also be inaugurated.
- Philadelphia: Non-stop daily service starting June 7, 2027, operated with Airbus A321neo equipment.
Additionally, the airline will implement progressive frequency increases on key domestic links throughout 2027:
- Raleigh-Durham: Increase to two daily flights starting April 12.
- Boston: Increase to five daily flights starting May 6.
- San Diego: Elevation to five daily flights starting June 7.
- Cincinnati: Increase to two daily operations starting July 11.
- Houston: Increase to three daily flights starting July 11.
- San Antonio: Expansion to three daily frequencies starting July 11.
- Seattle: Increase up to eight daily flights starting July 11.

In the domestic market, the carrier is reinforcing its leadership toward the state of Florida with up to 13 daily departures and more than 2,500 daily seats during peak demand periods, incorporating Palm Beach and additional frequencies to Tampa, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale. In New York, it is adding service to Newark to complement its connectivity with John F. Kennedy International Airport, in addition to adding new routes to Chicago.
At the regional level, its presence in Southern California spans terminals such as Orange County —with the seasonal return of the Delta One cabin to New York-JFK—, Hollywood Burbank, Ontario, and Long Beach.
In the international segment, Delta totals 25 direct destinations and access to more than 100 countries in connection with its partners. Toward the South Pacific, it connects Los Angeles with Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne (which will transition to daily service for the peak season starting December 22), and Auckland (with daily return starting October 25). This global network also incorporates new operations to Hong Kong and Shanghai, adding to the prior announcement of flights to Vancouver and Manila.
Premium Ground and Air Experience: Infrastructure and Investment at LAX
Delta remains the operator with the highest number of premium seats at LAX, backed by a $2.3 billion investment in the Sky Way project, which integrated Terminals 2 and 3 into an interconnected complex with improvements in wayfinding systems, security checkpoints, and amenities.
The ground and onboard offering includes:
- Ground Delta One Spaces: Exclusive check-in process featuring a private security checkpoint managed by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and access to exclusive lounges.
- Lounge Expansion: LAX became the first airport in the network to operate two Delta One lounges. In 2027, a new 11,000-square-foot (approximately 1,022 square meters) Delta Sky Club will open in Terminal 2.
- Goals Toward 2028: The airline will feature four dedicated lounges distributed across Terminals 2 and 3 (two Delta One Lounges and two Delta Sky Clubs), which combined will exceed 60,000 square feet and more than 1,000 seats, practically doubling the Delta One lounge space at the terminal.
- Long-Haul Fleet: The widebody international network from LAX is assigned to Airbus A350-900 aircraft, configured with 40 Delta One suites. This cabin is also offered on selected domestic routes to Honolulu, Maui, Kona, New York (JFK), Boston, and Atlanta.
- Gastronomy and Services: Starting October 1, Delta One is introducing a wine list featuring 13 wines from California and international wineries, while domestic First Class features menus crafted by Chef José Andrés. All SkyMiles members have access to fast, complimentary Wi-Fi (expanding this fall to transpacific flights), alongside the Delta Sync platform.
Community Ties and the Path to the 2028 Olympic Games
The carrier’s deployment is supported by a workforce of more than 4,500 employees in the Los Angeles area and collaborations with over 25 local entities in education, workforce development, anti-hunger programs, and sustainability, generating an economic impact exceeding $700,000 through small businesses. In addition to sponsoring sports teams such as the L.A. Lakers and L.A. Kings, Delta will serve as an Inaugural Founding Partner of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the official airline of Team USA, shoring up its infrastructure ahead of the influx of global travelers for the Olympic event.
