Emirates Redefines Premium Economy Travel Experience with Industry’s First Electric Seat and Full-Height Privacy Screen

Emirates has raised the bar for inflight comfort by introducing the commercial aviation industry’s first electric-powered Premium Economy seat, equipped with a full-height privacy screen. This innovative product will debut on the airline’s new Airbus A350 aircraft, offering passengers enhanced control over their personal space and an unprecedented level of sophistication in its category.

Technological Innovation and Control at Your Fingertips

The new Premium Economy cabin on the Airbus A350 features a 2-3-2 spatial configuration, comprising just 28 seats to ensure greater exclusivity. The seats offer a width of 20 inches and a seat pitch of up to 39 inches. Additionally, they feature a cradle-style recline mechanism designed to avoid intruding into the space of the row behind.

Next-Generation Inflight Entertainment System

The inflight entertainment offering is powered by the award-winning ice system, accessible through 13.3-inch 4K HDR touchscreens.

Furthermore, on the new Airbus A350s, Emirates has upgraded the aircraft’s external camera system. Joining the existing forward and belly-view angles, new lateral side cameras (port and starboard) have been added, providing travelers with a more immersive visual experience during flight.

Gastronomy and Exclusive Wine Selection

Onboard service in Premium Economy mirrors Business Class standards. The culinary offering features regionally inspired gourmet menus served on Royal Doulton fine bone china, accompanied by linen napkins and Robert Welch stainless steel cutlery.

The beverage portfolio stands out with a carefully curated selection of fine wines and sparkling wines:

This offering forms part of the airline’s global wine program, into which Emirates has invested more than US$1 billion since 2006.

Sustainability and Amenity Kits

For long-haul flights, the carrier will distribute collectible and reusable amenity kits developed in partnership with United for Wildlife. These pouches are manufactured using bio-based materials, such as cactus-based plant leather alternatives, and mark the debut of botanical cosmetic products from Aveda. The collection includes travel essentials crafted from sustainable supplies, such as socks, eyeshades, earplugs, and a dental kit.

Leadership in the Premium Segment

Since launching its Premium Economy class in 2022, Emirates has progressively expanded the cabin across its fleet, making it available in all markets currently served by the Airbus A350.

The product has received multiple industry accolades, notably winning “Best Premium Economy Class” at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards in 2024 and 2025, as well as “Best Airline for Premium Economy” at the 2025 ULTRAs Awards.

With the introduction of this new electric seat and privacy screen, Emirates reaffirms its commitment to commercial aviation innovation and reinforces its brand promise to Fly Better.
