Etihad Airways unveiled Etihad Escapes at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2026 in Dubai, introducing an end-to-end travel platform designed to integrate flight bookings, accommodation, and curated experiences into a single digital ecosystem. The initiative aims to capture passenger spend beyond air travel while directly driving the tourism and economic objectives of Abu Dhabi.
The commercial rollout is scheduled for this coming October, when passengers with existing flight bookings will be able to add hotel accommodations directly through the carrier’s official portal.
This initial rollout marks the first phase of a broader expansion plan slated to run through 2027. The development roadmap includes:
- End-to-End Booking Integration: The capability to search and book standalone hotel stays, as well as bundle flights and accommodation within a unified booking flow.
- Mobile Ecosystem: Full deployment and seamless integration within the Etihad mobile app.
- Loyalty and Personalization: Direct synergy with the Etihad Guest frequent flyer program alongside advanced customer personalization engines.
- Ancillary Services: The phased introduction of a broader portfolio of travel experiences and ancillary services.

Strategic Partnerships and Technological Infrastructure
Etihad Escapes leverages the airline’s in-house capabilities alongside key industry technology partners:
- Expedia Group B2B: Responsible for powering and managing the platform’s extensive hotel inventory.
- Juniper Travel Technology: Provider tasked with supporting the underlying booking engine and tech infrastructure.
- Miral Destinations: Strategic launch partner tasked with connecting travelers to Abu Dhabi’s attractions and curating holiday packages centered around the emirate’s premier leisure destinations.
The carrier plans to onboard additional suppliers and commercial partners as the platform scales.
Commercial Strategy and 2030 Tourism Targets
The launch of Etihad Escapes capitalizes on a high-yield commercial opportunity. The global package holiday market—currently valued at roughly $2.7 trillion—is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 6.5% through 2030, an operating landscape where the vast majority of consumer spend occurs outside the aircraft cabin.
By directly participating in the wider traveler journey, the airline intends to diversify ancillary revenue streams and maximize yields across its expanding route network.
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, stated:
“Our guests already choose Etihad to fly to some of the world’s most exciting destinations. With Etihad Escapes, we want to make the rest of their journey just as seamless. This is about building a much deeper relationship with our guests beyond the flight. Over time, Etihad Escapes will bring together flights, hotels, loyalty, and other travel experiences into one place, creating a simpler and more personalized way to travel.
This also creates a key growth platform for Etihad and for Abu Dhabi. By connecting the scale of our network with a broader travel offering and some of Abu Dhabi’s world-class visitor experiences, we can bring more visitors to the emirate, help them experience more of Abu Dhabi, and support the ambition to welcome 39.3 million visitors and generate AED 90 billion in tourism GDP by 2030.”
Through this strategic pivot, Etihad not only enhances its route economics by converting passenger traffic into in-destination spend, but also solidifies its position as a primary catalyst for the emirate’s economic diversification and passenger volume targets by the end of the decade.
