Etihad Airways to Operate Double-Daily Flights Between Abu Dhabi and Sydney Starting December
Beginning December 15, 2026, Etihad Airways will add four weekly flights to its current 10-frequency schedule on the route, bringing the total to 14 weekly flights—equivalent to two daily departures. The airline has served Sydney since 2007, and this expansion will provide travelers with more than 5,000 weekly seats between both cities.
Airbus A350 Operations and In-Flight Experience
All operations on the route will be operated by Airbus A350 aircraft, featuring next-generation cabins and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the aircraft:
- Business Class: Private suites equipped with sliding privacy doors, 79-inch fully flat beds, wireless charging pads, and individual 18.5-inch entertainment screens.
- Economy Class: 17.4-inch seat pitch/width comfort, 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens, and integrated Bluetooth audio connectivity.

Network Strengthening and Abu Dhabi Connecting Banks
The ramp-up to double-daily departures from New South Wales aligns strategically with the carrier’s morning and evening connecting banks at Abu Dhabi International Airport. This will enable seamless same-day connections to key hubs and destinations:
- Europe: Zurich, Geneva, Milan, Rome, Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona, London, Manchester, and Dublin.
- Other Regions: Key destinations across the Gulf, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent, and Africa.
Across the Australasian market, the second daily frequency also expands onward travel options throughout Australia and New Zealand via the airline’s interline agreements with Qantas, Jetstar, and Air New Zealand.
Furthermore, the carrier’s Australian network is complemented by its regular daily service between Abu Dhabi and Melbourne, operated with Boeing 787 aircraft.

With this expansion, the airline consolidates its long-haul presence along the Middle East–Oceania corridor heading into late 2026.
