Ultra-low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines has announced a significant expansion of its international network, marking its official entry into the South American market. Beginning December 2026, the carrier will inaugurate nonstop service linking Orlando International Airport with three strategic Colombian destinations: Bogota, Medellin, and Cartagena.

Commenting on the milestone, Tyri Squyres, Vice President of Public and Consumer Affairs at Frontier Airlines, noted: “This is an exciting day for Frontier and for travelers as we announce our first-ever service to South America. We believe there is significant pent-up demand for low-fare travel between Orlando and Colombia, and we look forward to delivering affordable flight options between these two magnificent destinations.”

‘The New Frontier’: Product and Cabin Overhaul

This international expansion coincides with a comprehensive overhaul of the airline’s onboard product and passenger experience, rolled out under its commercial initiative dubbed ‘The New Frontier.’

Key cabin enhancements include the introduction of ‘UpFront Plus’ seating, situated in the first two rows of the aircraft. This layout guarantees extra legroom and elbow room, offering either a window or aisle seat alongside a guaranteed empty middle seat. Additionally, the carrier will introduce a First Class seating product in 2026, designed to deliver enhanced comfort and space within its budget-friendly pricing structure.

On the loyalty front, Frontier is rolling out unlimited companion travel privileges for its top-tier frequent flyers, allowing passengers the flexibility to designate a different travel companion on every flight. Furthermore, its frequent flyer program, Frontier Miles, enables members to earn miles and elite status points per dollar spent, featuring complimentary enrollment and family mileage pooling options for elite tiers. For 2026, Elite status can be attained starting at 10,000 points, unlocking perks such as priority boarding and complimentary baggage allowances tailored to each tier.

With these route additions, the carrier not only reinforces its footprint across Central Florida but also establishes an operational foothold in the competitive air travel corridor between the United States and northern South America.
