Iberia Begins Countdown to Its Centenary: Unveils Commemorative Livery and Event Program

With one hundred days remaining before the formal launch of celebrations, Iberia has unveiled the roadmap of events and milestones scheduled throughout 2027 to commemorate its first century of operations.

A Century of Connectivity: The 2027 Commemorative Program

During the official presentation, Iberia CEO and Chairman Marco Sansavini revealed the initiatives designed to mark this milestone alongside passengers, employees, institutions, corporate partners, and the wider public. Key highlights include the introduction of a special Centenary livery, which will be painted on selected aircraft across the carrier’s fleet.

“The centenary events will serve as a tribute to the more than one billion passengers who have flown with Iberia over the past century, to all the employees whose dedication made every flight possible over these one hundred years, and to everyone whose family, business, or cultural ties were fostered through our connectivity during this era,” stated Sansavini.

Expansion of «Espacio Iberia» Across Spain and Latin America

To engage directly with passengers and local communities, the Madrid Espacio Iberia will relocate for much of 2027 to a central venue at Calle Alcala 44, featuring panels and conferences on aviation, technology, culture, and social impact.

The carrier also plans to export this brand-experience concept to other Spanish cities and across four strategic long-haul markets in Latin America:

Workforce Recognition and Commemorative «IB100» Flight

The airline projects the involvement of roughly 60,000 active and former staff across the centenary initiatives. The operational schedule includes flight IB100—a special symbolic commemorative flight honoring a century of human capital contributions—alongside employee concerts and dedicated team celebrations.

Fleet Modernization and Flight Plan 2030 Progress

The celebrations align with the rollout of the carrier’s Flight Plan 2030, a strategic industrial and commercial program backed by a 6-billion-euro investment designed to reinforce Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport as a leading European connecting hub, driven by fleet renewal, digitalization, and artificial intelligence:
