Ryanair Boosts Madrid Operations for Winter 2026: Adds Four New Routes and Reaches 3.4 Million Seats
Ryanair, the leading carrier in the Spanish market by passenger traffic, has unveiled its flight schedule for the Winter 2026 season at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. The ultra-low-cost carrier’s network deployment encompasses 51 routes, highlighted by the addition of four new international links to Albania, Poland, and Germany, alongside increased flight frequencies across nearly 20 existing destinations.
The winter schedule will run from late October through late March 2027, during which the airline will offer more than 3.4 million seats—representing an additional 200,000 seats (+6%) compared to the previous year. This annual operational activity is projected to handle a total of 7.4 million passengers (+1%) through the Madrid hub.
New Connections and Expansion in Key Markets
Among the carrier’s primary operational additions are four direct routes from Madrid:
- Tirana (Albania): 3 weekly flights.
- Gdansk (Poland): 4 weekly flights.
- Wroclaw (Poland): 3 weekly flights.
- Düsseldorf-Weeze (Germany): 2 weekly flights (service scheduled to launch in February 2027).
In parallel, Ryanair has increased frequencies on 19 other routes, anchoring an overall schedule of more than 441 weekly flights from Madrid—a 7% capacity increase. This reinforcement will bolster high-demand routes for both inbound and outbound travel, including Porto, Budapest, Rome, Turin, Krakow, and Warsaw, reflecting notable market expansion into Italy and Poland.

Operational Base, Fleet, and Economic Impact at Barajas
Winter operations will be supported primarily by 14 aircraft permanently based at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport. This fleet deployment represents a $1.4 billion capital investment and directly supports over 5,600 local jobs across the region.
Commenting on the winter deployment, Alejandra Ruiz, Ryanair’s spokesperson for Spain, stated:
“We are pleased to announce our new Winter 2026 schedule for Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, featuring 51 routes, including four new connections to Tirana, Gdansk, Wroclaw, and Düsseldorf-Weeze, as well as increased frequencies across 19 destinations—such as popular getaways like Porto, Budapest, Rome, and Krakow, which represent some of the strongest corridors for both outbound and inbound tourism. These additions will deliver over 200,000 extra seats (3.4 million seats in total), boosting Ryanair’s Madrid capacity by 6% this winter, driven by robust growth on routes to Italy and Poland. Furthermore, our 14 based aircraft and 7.4 million passengers will help sustain over 5,600 jobs in the capital.”
