Colombian state-owned carrier Satena has announced a new nonstop international route connecting Montería and Panama City. Operating between Los Garzones International Airport and Tocumen International Airport, the service marks the airline’s return to international operations, standing as its sole active cross-border route.
Schedule, Launch Dates, and Commercialization
According to the airline, operations are slated to launch on October 26, 2026, while ticket sales will officially open on October 3.
The operational schedule includes:
- Frequency: Three weekly flights (Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays).
- Estimated Flight Time: 49-minute block time.
Aircraft and Fleet Deployment
The nonstop service connecting the capital of the Córdoba department with the primary Panamanian hub will be operated using Brazilian-built regional aircraft:
- Aircraft Type: Embraer ERJ 145.
- Capacity: Configured for up to 50 passengers per flight.
Mateo Arjona, President of Satena, emphasized the strategic importance of this connection for regional development: “With this new service, we aim to continue bridging Colombia’s regions to broader connectivity opportunities. Montería is experiencing sustained economic, business, and tourism growth, and having a direct link to Panama City opens up new avenues for local residents and regional travelers alike.”
This direct route is designed to bolster commercial trade and passenger flows from decentralized regions of Colombia, bypassing the need to transit through the country’s traditional primary hubs.
