Starting September 8, 2027, Air Canada will add Seville as its newest European destination, offering direct flights from its hub at Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport. This seasonal service will provide Canadian and international travelers with direct access to southern Spain and the Andalusia region during the fall and spring seasons.

Operations will launch with three weekly frequencies before increasing to four flights per week beginning October 1, 2027.

Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, and President of Air Canada Cargo: “The addition of Seville further strengthens Air Canada’s growing global network and solidifies our position as the leading carrier by seat capacity between Canada and Spain. As the only nonstop service between the city and North America, it will facilitate seamless access to Andalusia for our customers and Aeroplan members.”

Role of the Airbus A321XLR in Network Strategy

The launch of this route is made possible by the range and performance capabilities of Air Canada’s incoming Airbus A321XLR fleet. The aircraft will feature the airline’s “Glowing Hearted” cabin interior design concept in a two-class, 182-seat configuration:

  • 14 lie-flat seats in the Signature Class cabin.
  • 168 seats in Economy Class.

This next-generation, narrowbody aircraft allows the carrier to efficiently serve long-haul, point-to-point routes to secondary European markets, building on its recent additions of Palma de Mallorca and Tenerife.

Connectivity and Strategic Value for Hubs

The new service is strategically scheduled to connect seamlessly at the Montreal hub with destinations across North America, the Caribbean, and Latin America. Additionally, passengers connecting to the United States will be able to utilize U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) preclearance facilities in Montreal, clearing immigration and customs procedures prior to departure and arriving at their final destination as domestic passengers.

This launch complements Air Canada’s previously announced expansion from Montreal for summer 2027, which includes new routes to Basel-Mulhouse and Dubrovnik, along with the year-round extension of services to Tenerife, Lima, and Guatemala City.

With service scheduled to commence in September 2027, the Montreal–Seville link positions Air Canada as the sole transatlantic carrier operating out of Seville Airport, representing a significant milestone for inbound Andalusian tourism and expanding travel options between Spain and North America.
