Copa Airlines has rolled out an extensive continental promotional campaign to position Margarita Island as a premier Caribbean destination, forging a strategic partnership with the local tourism industry ahead of the launch of scheduled commercial flights on November 26.
Mega Fam Trip: Over 150 Industry Professionals Tour Margarita Island
As part of its international network positioning strategy, the carrier operated a direct charter flight between Panama City and Porlamar on Tuesday, flying in more than 150 guests from across the Americas. The group comprises travel agency executives, tour wholesalers, content creators (influencers), and members of the airline’s regional sales division.
The international delegation will remain on the island through October 25, taking part in a Mega Familiarization (Fam) Trip designed to offer firsthand assessment of the local infrastructure, tourist attractions, culinary offerings, and emerging business opportunities.
“We believe this flight represents a very timely opportunity to bring families together, facilitate business travel, and boost tourism to Margarita, allowing more travelers and investors across the hemisphere to discover an extraordinary island boasting spectacular beaches, exceptional gastronomy, and immense development potential. For this reason, we joined forces with key tourism stakeholders to stage this Americas-wide Mega Fam Trip, ensuring they witness firsthand how well-prepared the destination is to welcome international visitors and why this island captivates everyone who visits,” said Roberto Pulido, General Manager for Copa Airlines in Venezuela.
Meanwhile, Emilio Pamparato, President of Grupo BT Travel Venezuela—a travel agency and wholesale tour operator serving as the airline’s key strategic partner in this initiative—highlighted:
“Joining Copa on this milestone project allows us to showcase the very best of our island, demonstrating that Margarita remains as vibrant as ever and fully equipped to deliver unforgettable experiences to global travelers. Alongside Copa Airlines, we continue building strategic alliances, expanding air links, and driving the international projection of Venezuelan tourism.”

The launch of this scheduled city pair will grant Margarita seamless connectivity to a network of more than 85 destinations across the Americas, establishing a continuous two-way flow for leisure travelers, corporate traffic, and local residents.

Starting in November, Margarita will link directly into more than 85 destinations hemisphere-wide via the new Panama–Porlamar route,” the head of CAHOTEL stated.
