Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer set a new historic milestone, reporting a firm order backlog of $35.7 billion in the third quarter of 2026. This marks a 3% sequential increase quarter-over-quarter and a 14% year-over-year rise, driven by robust commercial performance across all business units and a sustained book-to-bill ratio.
Commercial Aviation: Strong Demand for the E2 Family
The Commercial Aviation division recorded a backlog of $15.8 billion, representing a 5% increase compared to the previous quarter and a 4% rise year-over-year. Commercial momentum during the quarter added 36 firm orders and 30 purchase options or purchase rights for E2 family aircraft, bringing year-to-date firm orders to 72 units and maintaining a trailing 12-month book-to-bill ratio of 1.2x.
Quarterly commercial transaction breakdown:
- Abra Group: Finalized a firm order for 20 E195-E2 aircraft, along with 10 purchase options and 15 additional purchase rights, bringing potential commitments to as many as 45 aircraft.
- ANA Holdings: Added eight E190-E2 aircraft, expanding on the agreement initially announced in 2025 and raising its total firm order count to 23 units.
- Binter: Ordered an additional five E195-E2s and secured four supplementary purchase rights.
- Luxair: Converted three existing E190-E2 purchase rights into firm orders and secured one additional purchase right, expanding its total order book to nine aircraft.

Executive Aviation: Historic Milestone, Phenom 300EV Rollout, and Praetor 600E Deliveries
The Executive Aviation division posted a record backlog of $8.2 billion, up 5% sequentially and 12% year-over-year, supported by a 1.4x book-to-bill ratio over the past 12 months.
Key operational highlights include:
- Rollout of the Phenom 300EV: Marking the latest iteration of the world’s most-delivered light jet for 14 consecutive years. It integrates advanced operational safety avionics, including the Garmin Emergency Autoland system.
- Simultaneous Triple Certification: The Phenom 300EV achieved joint type certification from Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), making it the first light jet certified with this technology.
- Praetor Series Advancements: Embraer delivered the first Praetor 600E to Flexjet. Both this model and the midsize Praetor 500E received their respective regulatory triple certifications.
Defense & Security: 56% Year-Over-Year Surge and KC-390 Millennium Momentum
The Defense & Security unit achieved an order backlog of $6.1 billion, reflecting a slight sequential uptick and a 56% surge year-over-year, underpinned by a trailing 12-month book-to-bill ratio of 2.9x.
The centerpiece of the quarter was the contract execution with the Colombian Aerospace Force (FAC) for the procurement of two KC-390 Millennium multi-mission airlifters, deepening the type’s operational footprint in Latin America and reinforcing its global market presence. The division currently tallies an active backlog of 43 firm orders for the KC-390 Millennium military transport and 25 A-29 Super Tucano light attack aircraft.
Services & Support: Expansion of Global Contracts and Record Backlog
The Services & Support division hit a record $5.6 billion backlog, advancing 2% sequentially and 14% year-over-year, while preserving a 1.3x book-to-bill ratio over the trailing 12 months.
The division solidified key contracts across several operational sectors:
- Commercial Aviation: New long-term service agreements supporting Portugalia’s fleet of 19 E190s and Alliance Airlines’ fleet of 40 E190s, alongside an extension of the Pool Program component agreement with Western Air for its nine-aircraft ERJ 145 fleet.
- Executive Aviation: Signed 69 maintenance contracts under the Executive Care program, valued at approximately $53 million.
- Defense & Security: Finalized a new support agreement for the FAC’s KC-390 Millennium fleet, renewed the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) contract for the Chilean Air Force (FACH) A-29 Super Tucano fleet, and widened the scope of the comprehensive training systems agreement with Sweden.
Embraer’s third-quarter 2026 results confirm an upward trajectory across all four business units. The combined momentum of new E2 commercial jet commitments, certified technological advances in business aviation, and expanding international adoption of its defense platforms have propelled the manufacturer’s backlog to the highest operational level in its history.
