Dutch flag carrier KLM Royal Dutch Airlines—part of the Air France-KLM Group—has marked a major milestone in its ongoing fleet modernization program following the delivery of its first Airbus A350-900 at Airbus facilities in Toulouse.
The widebody aircraft will be deployed on long-haul operations from the airline’s primary hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, with planned services to intercontinental destinations such as Toronto, strengthening the carrier’s global network.
Currently, KLM’s operational Airbus fleet comprises:
- Ten A330 Family aircraft.

Cabin Configuration and Passenger Comfort: Airspace Cabin
KLM’s newly delivered A350-900 features a three-class cabin layout configured to accommodate 331 passengers:
- 34 Business Class suites, each offering direct aisle access.
- 26 Premium Comfort seats.
- 271 Economy Class seats.
The interior is fitted with the Airbus Airspace cabin, engineered to enhance the long-haul experience for both passengers and crew. Features include optimized ergonomics, superior comfort levels, enlarged overhead luggage bins, an advanced ambient LED lighting system, and high-speed satellite connectivity.
The delivery of this first Airbus A350-900 equips KLM with one of the most technologically advanced and fuel-efficient widebody aircraft on the market, allowing the carrier to bolster key routes with lower operating costs and elevated passenger comfort standards across its intercontinental operations.
