LOT Polish Airlines Launches Direct Flights Between Warsaw and Bangkok

LOT Polish Airlines has inaugurated its new nonstop service between Warsaw Chopin Airport and Bangkok, linking the Polish capital to one of Southeast Asia’s primary tourism and business hubs. The operation strengthens the Polish flag carrier’s long-haul network and further consolidates Warsaw as a strategic transit hub for Central and Eastern Europe.

Robert Ludera, Board Member and Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at LOT Polish Airlines, stated:

“For years, Bangkok has remained one of Asia’s most attractive and promising destinations. It is a city that blends the character of a global metropolis with Thailand’s unique culture, gastronomy, and heritage, while offering seamless access to tropical islands and key Southeast Asian destinations. The launch of direct flights from Warsaw marks another step forward in strengthening LOT’s presence in this part of the world and provides our passengers with a faster, more convenient way to reach Thailand. The new connection will also help deepen ties between Poland and Thailand, reinforcing Warsaw’s role as a natural transit hub for Central European travelers flying to Asia.”

The service is structured across several phases of capacity expansion and operational adjustments:

Return of a Historic Route After More Than Two Decades

The launch of these operations marks the resumption of a city-pair whose history dates back to 1977, when LOT Polish Airlines first inaugurated scheduled service to the Far East connecting Warsaw and Bangkok.

Originally, the route required technical and commercial stopovers, routing Warsaw–Dubai–Bombay–Bangkok utilizing Ilyushin Il-62 aircraft. Subsequent fleet modernization and expansion with Boeing 767 widebodies later enabled the introduction of nonstop flights to Thailand.

Scheduled operations between Warsaw and Bangkok were suspended in March 2000. Their reactivation after more than 20 years represents a milestone in the European carrier’s long-haul network development strategy.
