Singapore Airlines Overhauls In-Flight Experience with Next-Generation KrisWorld and Starlink Satellite Connectivity

Singapore Airlines (SIA) has unveiled the next generation of its in-flight entertainment (IFE) system, pairing 4K touchscreen displays, spatial audio, and high-speed in-flight connectivity powered by the Starlink constellation. This comprehensive cabin retrofit will roll out progressively across its long-haul fleet beginning in 2027.

The carrier aims to redefine passenger comfort and cabin immersion through a major technological leap. The updated KrisWorld platform integrates state-of-the-art hardware, Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite connectivity, and a customized software architecture engineered to meet both the connectivity demands of corporate travelers and the entertainment preferences of frequent flyers.

Commenting on the milestone, Yeoh Phee Teik, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at Singapore Airlines, noted: Budget flights

“Our customers told us they wanted more choice and flexibility in how they spend their time on board, as well as entertainment and connectivity that integrate more seamlessly into their journey. This feedback guided the development of the next-generation KrisWorld and SIA’s enhanced connectivity suite, making it easier to discover and enjoy content, stay in touch with loved ones, and transition smoothly between entertainment and other in-flight activities.”

Visual and Acoustic Hardware: 4K OLED Displays and Spatial Audio

Starlink LEO Connectivity and Cabin Personalization

Beginning in early 2027, SIA will roll out Starlink high-speed satellite broadband, leveraging its LEO constellation to deliver seamless, low-latency, gate-to-gate connectivity. The high-throughput bandwidth will support streaming, remote corporate workflows, cloud gaming, and social media browsing on personal electronic devices (PEDs).
