Dominican flag carrier Arajet has surpassed the five-million-passenger milestone since launching operations in September 2022. This operational achievement strengthens the Dominican Republic’s strategic positioning not only as a prime leisure destination, but also as a pivotal air travel connecting hub for the Americas.
Sustained Growth: Double-Digit Surge in Passenger Traffic
Reaching this milestone reflects a continuous acceleration in the airline’s load factors and capacity since its inception:
- 2025 Performance: The airline carried 1,480,278 passengers, representing a 37% year-over-year increase compared to the previous period.
- First Half of 2026: Passenger traffic reached 1,022,593 travelers, compared to 624,706 during the same period in 2025—marking a 63.7% expansion.
This growth trajectory underscores the strong market penetration of the carrier’s business model across the region and reinforces its fleet and operational scaling objectives.

Route Network and Strategic Intercontinental Connectivity
Arajet’s footprint currently encompasses a network of over 30 destinations across 17 countries, anchored by a dual-base operational infrastructure at Santo Domingo and Punta Cana.
Operating out of both gateways, the carrier combines point-to-point direct services with connecting traffic linking key markets across North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. This network architecture broadens itinerary alternatives that previously required more complex routing across the continent.
Tourism and Commercial Synergy
Operational diversification across Santo Domingo and Punta Cana caters to varied demand profiles, including sun-and-beach leisure, cultural tourism, corporate business travel, and visiting friends and relatives (VFR) traffic. Concurrently, sustained passenger throughput provides direct stimulus to local hospitality, food and beverage, retail, ground transportation, and excursion sectors.
“Reaching five million passengers reflects the trust we have built and the immense opportunity it represents for the Dominican Republic to host an airline capable of connecting the Americas. Every new route broadens opportunities to attract travelers, bridge markets, and drive economic growth. Our vision is to keep expanding so more people can take to the skies, while our nation cements its position as a continental connecting hub,” stated Victor Pacheco Mendez, CEO and Founder of Arajet.
Milestone Commemoration: Five-Millionth Passenger
The milestone five-millionth passenger was registered on a scheduled service bound for New York City. The commemorative event featured a special activation in collaboration with Dominican content creator Semipopi, during which the airline awarded the milestone traveler a round-trip ticket to any destination across its route network.
With this performance, the airline reaffirms its commitment to expanding air travel accessibility across the region, positioning the Dominican Republic as a vital continental gateway driving commercial exchange and sustainable economic development.
