Porter Airlines Launches International Flights from Edmonton
Porter Airlines has inaugurated its first direct international route from the province of Alberta, connecting Edmonton International Airport with Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. This flight marks the launch of a seasonal expansion featuring four leisure destinations across the United States and Mexico, powered by its Embraer E195-E2 fleet.
Joining this inaugural route throughout November are non-stop services to Phoenix, Los Cabos (Mexico), and Las Vegas, strengthening the carrier’s network footprint across both US and Mexican markets.
“Porter’s presence in Edmonton is growing, in tandem with our expanding network across North America,” said Andrew Pierce, Vice President of Network Planning and Reporting at the airline. “By introducing non-stop flights to popular vacation getaways in Mexico and the US, we are providing local travelers with even more choice and the advantage of Porter’s signature elevated comfort for their winter getaways.”
Flight Schedules and Frequencies
The rollout of these new seasonal routes will follow a phased schedule throughout November:
- Edmonton – Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: Commenced on November 3, 2026, operating at a peak frequency of three weekly flights.
- Edmonton – Phoenix: Launches November 6, 2026, operating on a daily schedule.
- Edmonton – Los Cabos, Mexico: Launches November 16, 2026, with a peak frequency of four flights per week.
- Edmonton – Las Vegas: Launches November 16, 2026, operating four weekly frequencies.
Embraer E195-E2 Inflight Experience
All services will be operated by the carrier’s Embraer E195-E2 fleet, configured in a 132-seat single-class layout. The cabin product is notable for its no-middle-seat 2-2 seating configuration and features:
- Connectivity: Fast, complimentary Wi-Fi available fleet-wide to all passengers.
- Beverage and Snack Service: Complimentary beer and wine served in real glassware, paired with premium snacks.
- Catering Options: Fresh, healthy meal options included with PorterReserve fares or available for purchase à la carte with PorterClassic bookings.
These route additions reflect Porter’s sustained expansion across Western Canada and North America. Supported by the steady delivery and fleet integration of its next-generation Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, the airline will increase its total sun destination capacity by more than 150% over the course of this winter season.
