Qatar Airways Lands in Colombia and Venezuela: Inaugurates Triangular Route Linking Doha, Bogota, and Caracas

Qatar Airways inaugurated on Wednesday its new scheduled passenger flights connecting Doha with Bogota and Caracas. The operation marks a strategic milestone in intercontinental connectivity, establishing the Qatari flag carrier as the first Gulf airline to serve Venezuela and the first Middle Eastern operator to link both South American capitals non-stop with the region.

With the addition of Caracas and Bogota, the carrier expands its footprint to 17 destinations across the Americas. Qatar Airways’ presence in South America dates back to 2010, when it launched regional operations with its inaugural flight to São Paulo, Brazil.

Flight Schedules and Routing

The service operates twice weekly (Wednesdays and Sundays) utilizing Boeing 777-200LR widebody aircraft, operating under the following timetable:

The flight timings are structured to optimize seamless connectivity via the airline’s global hub at Doha’s Hamad International Airport. South American inbound passengers can access direct onward connections to key markets including Australia, China, Japan, Lebanon, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates, integrating into a global network spanning more than 170 destinations.

Expanded Codeshare with LATAM: Strengthening Domestic Feeder Connectivity in Colombia

To maximize passenger feed and regional reach for this new route, Qatar Airways recently expanded its bilateral codeshare agreement with LATAM Airlines Group to include its Colombian affiliate, LATAM Airlines Colombia.

Under this codeshare framework, Qatar Airways places its marketing code on LATAM-operated flights departing Bogota to 17 domestic airports across Colombian territory:

The launch of these operations not only consolidates Qatar Airways’ presence in the South American market, but also establishes a direct intercontinental link between northern South America and the Middle East, supported by domestic feeder distribution in Colombia and streamlined access to more than 170 global destinations through Doha.
