Vietnam has suspended the entry of international commercial flights into the country three weeks after announcing its reopening, in response to the confusion and difficulties created by the mandatory quarantine of travelers, reported EFE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Vietnamese Civil Aviation Administration decided on Thursday to cancel the arrival of new international commercial flights -planes with repatriated foreign and Vietnamese experts continue to arrive- until the government establishes clear rules on the isolations, reported the state newspaper Tuoi Tre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travelers coming from abroad must present a visa, a certificate that they have tested negative for COVID-19 and a confirmation from the hotel where they plan to be isolated for fourteen days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The length of the mandatory quarantine has been the main source of confusion in the three weeks since some trade routes with China (Canton), Japan (Tokyo), South Korea (Seoul) and Taiwan (Taipei) were reopened for Vietnamese citizens and their families, foreigners with diplomatic passports, skilled workers, entrepreneurs, investors and international students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the initial requirement was two weeks in government centers or hotels, the government announced a reduction to five days completed with another nine days at home for Vietnamese with two negative PCR tests, a rule that has not been implemented and has caused confusion and protests from travelers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Vietnam closed its commercial flights on March 25 due to the spread of the virus and until the partial reopening on September 15 had only allowed charter flights for the repatriation of Vietnamese abroad and for international skilled workers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With 1,100 cases (39 active) and 35 deaths from COVID-19, and after more than a month without community infection, Vietnam is one of the countries that has best controlled the pandemic and most limited economic damage, with a forecast growth of about 3 percent this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
