{"id":102008,"date":"2020-10-24T20:54:35","date_gmt":"2020-10-24T20:54:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=102008"},"modified":"2020-10-24T20:54:43","modified_gmt":"2020-10-24T20:54:43","slug":"u-s-tentatively-approves-delta-westjet-alliance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2020\/10\/u-s-tentatively-approves-delta-westjet-alliance.html","title":{"rendered":"U.S. tentatively approves Delta, WestJet alliance."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The U.S. Transportation Department said on Friday it had tentatively approved a proposed alliance agreement between<strong> Delta Air Lines<\/strong> and Canada&#8217;s <strong>WestJet<\/strong> that is expected to expand travel options between the United States and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>See also:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/en\/2020\/10\/airbus-delivers-the-first-a220-assembled-in-the-u-s-to-delta.html\">Airbus delivers the first A220 assembled in the U.S. to Delta.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department said as part of its tentative antitrust immunity approval it would require the carriers to remove Swoop, an ultra low-cost carrier affiliate of WestJet, from the alliance, and divest 16 takeoff and landing slots at New York\u2019s LaGuardia Airport, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/delta-air-westjet-idUSL1N2HE1WC\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Reuters<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>See also: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/en\/2020\/10\/westjet-announces-flights-between-vancouver-and-toronto-operated-by-the-dreamliner.html\">WestJet announces flights between Vancouver and Toronto operated by the Dreamliner.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The department also proposes to require WestJet to provide interline access to select carriers flying to Canada, and to review the proposed alliance in five years.
