Copa Airlines reported that, after eight months without regular operations due to the travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the airline has been authorized by the National Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) to operate in Venezuela as of November 24, 2020; connecting Caracas with more than 20 countries in the Americas, through Tocumen International Airport, located in Panama. This operation is possible after the inclusion of Panama as an authorized destination for commercial air operations, from and to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, according to NOTAN N\u00b0C0956\/20 and A0438\/20 published on November 11, 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline was initially authorized by the INAC to operate with a frequency of three weekly flights (Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday), which will connect to Caracas with Tocumen International Airport in Panama City on the following itinerary, subject to change:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In accordance with the authorization received, Copa Airlines will initially operate from Maiquet\u00eda International Airport, while it is waiting to receive authorization to fly from Valencia and Maracaibo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We hope that the resumption of flights can help thousands of passengers who wish to return home, reconnect with their families, attend to health issues, important meetings, or family or professional commitments,” said Pedro Heilbron, CEO of Copa Airlines. “We continue to work with the governments of the region to expand the number of destinations to serve as many people as possible”, said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Passengers must comply with the requirements established by the airline published on its web page and the Venezuelan authorities, which contemplate the mandatory presentation of the Negative PCR Test with a validity of no more than 48 hours (does not apply to children up to two years old) and will perform PCR tests to passengers arriving in the country at the airport (free of charge).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venezuelan authorities maintain the quarantine only for repatriation or humanitarian flights, in accommodation designated by the authority at the cost of the passenger, until the results of the PCR test are received in a maximum of five days. Meanwhile, passengers on regular flights carrying nationals, residents or foreigners should not be quarantined. On the other hand, Panama does not require PCR test to passengers connecting in that country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Copa Airlines’ passengers will be served from November 16, 2020, at the sales office (located in Caracas on Francisco de Miranda Avenue, Centro Lido, E Tower, 6th floor, Office 63-E, Urb. El Rosal) from Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 03:00 p.m., complying with biosecurity and social distancing measures. There they will be able to make changes according to the commercial policies in force, manage the selection of seats or know information about upcoming flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
