The airlines operating in Colombia transported 10,143,000 passengers during the period from January to October 2020, which represents a reduction of 70% of the people mobilized. In total, 23,894,000 fewer people were mobilized than in the same period of the immediately preceding year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 841,000 people were transported. It is the highest figure since the beginning of the pandemic and corresponds to 24% of the market in October 2019, reported RCN Noticias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for air cargo transport, airlines operating in Colombia transported 555,080 tons, during the period January to October 2020, which represents a reduction of 18%. In numbers, 119,115 tons less were transported than in the same period in 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In October 2020, 10,523 tons (14.5%) less were mobilized than in the same month in 2019, figures that show a recovery of the cargo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, at the El Dorado airport in Bogota, the number of passengers was again increased as of the first week of September with reactivation pilot flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first routes approved by the Ministry of Health were Bogota-Leticia, Bogota-Cartagena and Bogota-San Andres round trip, because they met the epidemiological conditions that would allow a safe reactivation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also, since that first week of September, it was estimated that El Dorado airport would receive about 8,000 passengers who would take one of the 80 flights approved by the city’s mayor’s office, the first one departing from 6:00 a.m., local time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, with the objective of recovering the country’s economy, the Olaya Herrera Airport in Medellin and the Alfonso Bonilla Aragon Airport in Palmira, Cali also immediately joined the reopening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
