Ryanair<\/strong> signed on Thursday a purchase agreement with Boeing for 75 new 737 MAX 200<\/strong> aircraft, increasing its firm order for the planes from 135 to 210, with a total value of more than $22 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline expects to receive the first deliveries of these new planes from the beginning of 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 737 MAX 200 is a “Gamechanger” for Ryanair’s customers and European consumers. This aircraft, when delivered, will be the most audited and regulated in aviation history. It has a capacity of 197 seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Ryanair will continue to play a leading role in our industry when Europe recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic and air traffic grows again across the continent. We are pleased that Ryanair is once again placing its trust in the Boeing 737 family and building its future fleet with this expanded firm order,” said Boeing President and CEO Dave Calhoun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are pleased and proud to place this extended order with Boeing, which has successfully completed the return to service of the 737 MAX aircraft. We expect to receive at least 50 of these aircraft in 2021, subject to Boeing’s return to manufacturing production for delivery. As long as the Covid-19 pandemic depresses air travel, we will use these new aircraft to replace part of our old Boeing NG fleet, which will remain on the ground until previous demand for Covid returns, said Ryanair Group CEO Michael O’Leary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
