The Netherlands is banning flights carrying passengers from the UK from Sunday, as Britain has detected a new strain of coronavirus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The travel ban will remain in place until January 1, the government said in a statement Sunday, adding that it is monitoring developments and considering additional measures with respect to other means of transportation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In measures to control the spread of the virus, the government issued a warning to “not travel” unless absolutely essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ban came after British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and scientists announced Saturday that the new strain of coronavirus identified in the country is up to 70% more infectious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
