British airline easyJet <\/strong>announced Thursday that it will operate at most 10% of its flights during the first quarter of 2021, from January to March, due to travel restrictions imposed internationally by the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In presenting preliminary results to the London Stock Exchange, it said that, given the “short-term uncertainty”, it will not release financial forecasts for this year for the time being, although it says it is well positioned to readjust to demand after the crisis, according to EFE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the report, the Luton (London)-based airline reveals that in the first quarter of its fiscal year, from October to December 2020, it operated 18% of its flights and turnover fell by 88% to 165 million pounds (about 185 million euros).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In that period, it used 52.2 % fewer aircraft than in the same months of 2019, down to a peak of 152, and passenger numbers were down 87.1 % to 2.8 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EasyJet confirmed that it has cut 1,400 jobs to reduce costs and will have four additional aircraft, to a total of 71, at its base at Gatwick Airport next summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
