{"id":108787,"date":"2021-04-20T13:19:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-20T13:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=108787"},"modified":"2021-04-21T12:25:54","modified_gmt":"2021-04-21T12:25:54","slug":"airlines-qatar-airways-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2021\/04\/airlines-qatar-airways-boss.html","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Many more airlines will go under&#8221; Qatar Airways boss."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Qatar Airways <\/strong>CEO Akbar Al-Baker has warned that many more airlines will be forced out of business by the pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>See also:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/en\/2021\/04\/qatar-airways-says-it-is-the-777x-launch-customer.html\">Qatar Airways says it is the 777X launch customer.<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an exclusive interview on CNN\u2019s Quest Means Business, Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al-Baker gave a bleak assessment of the challenges facing the industry as it struggles to recover the collapse in global air travel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBy the time this pandemic is over, there will only be few airlines that are strong and will continue operating,\u201d he said. \u201cA lot of other airlines will go under. And this will continue to happen, because we have not seen the worst of it over yet\u201d, said Al-Baker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>See also: <\/em><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/en\/2021\/03\/qatar-airways-will-operate-1200-weekly-flights-140-destinations-this-summer.html\"><em>Qatar Airways will operate 1,200 weekly flights 140 destinations this summer.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that returning the airline industry to full strength should be a key priority to boost the global economic outlook, Arab News reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf this pandemic prolongs for too long, this will completely destroy the world\u2019s economy which is so dependent on airlines for delivering business, carrying freight around, and most importantly creating jobs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Al-Baker also spoke about access to vaccinations and mitigating the risks amid the slow roll out of vaccines in some countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt will be a problem for the aviation industry. And we will have to work a way within this risks that we will have to take. But we will have to do things, we&#8217;ll have to put processes, we&#8217;ll have to put systems in place to mitigate that risk\u201d, said Al-Baker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2
