State-owned airline Cubana de Aviacion<\/strong> blamed the US embargo for the cancellation of lease contracts in 2019 that caused the indefinite suspension of most of its international flights in recent years, press media reported Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company’s deputy director, Arsenio Arocha, detailed that the places where the company had to close sales until further notice are Mexico City, Cancun, Santo Domingo, Fort de France and Caracas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The connection between Havana and Madrid continues to operate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He mentioned as another consequence of the “blockade” (embargo) the interruption of negotiations to open the route to Jamaica, according to the official newspaper Granma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This has caused “monetary damages and an increase in the deterioration of the company’s image,” added Arocha after a meeting with the national and foreign press, EFE reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executive affirmed that the impossibility of making transfers to and from Havana limited the financial flow of the state airline “with a negative impact of more than 353 million dollars”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The financial persecution of that power (the U.S.) has caused the closure of bank accounts in Santo Domingo, Panama, Paris and Madrid,” he said, quoted by the state-run Cuba.cu web portal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Income from exports of goods and services directly to and from that northern country in cargo transportation, amounting to more than five million dollars, also ceased to be received, he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
