Air France’s first A220 has just left the Airbus paint shop in Mirabel, near Montreal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline will take delivery in September of the first of the 60 Airbus A220-300s it has ordered to replace its Airbus A318 and A319s on the short- and medium-haul network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The A220 will play a decisive role in achieving Air France’s sustainable development objectives, which include a 50% reduction in CO2 emissions in absolute terms on the Paris-Orly domestic network and on interregional routes by 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon arrival in Paris, the aircraft will be used for more than a month to train the company’s flight crews, some of whom began the “type rating” process last summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with each new aircraft type entering the fleet, the company has created two core groups, one consisting of pilots and the other of flight attendants. These already qualified crew members will be responsible for training their colleagues within the framework of internal programs validated by the authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to pilots and flight attendants, the entire company is preparing to receive the Airbus A220, from maintenance personnel to station staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Air France’s Airbus A220 will be able to carry 148 passengers in a 3-2 cabin configuration. Each seat will be equipped with USB Type A and C ports and all passengers will enjoy Wi-Fi access from their personal devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
