Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito (Ecuador) <\/strong>was chosen as the Best Airport in South America by Skytrax, the leading organization that evaluates the service provided by airports and airlines worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The British organization published the results of the World Airport Awards 2021 in which Quito’s airport achieved for the first time the award as Best Airport in South America in the absolute ranking of the region over airports such as Bogota, Lima, Guayaquil, Santiago, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. In the world ranking of airports, the airport ranked 40th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to this achievement, for the sixth consecutive year, the airport won the award for Best Regional Airport in South America, remembering that this category only includes airports that have their main component of direct connectivity within the same region. In addition, the city’s airport was the winner as the Cleanest Airport in South America and won the award for Best Airport in the World in the category of less than two million passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The World Airport Awards were inaugurated in 1999, when Skytrax launched its first global airport user satisfaction survey. The awards are considered a benchmark of quality for airports around the world, evaluating customer service and facilities at more than 500 airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skytrax’s annual global airport user survey was conducted from August 2020 through July 2021, with many travelers voting for what they consider to be the best airport based on their pre-pandemic travel experiences, while other users voted based on their airport experience in the past year during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ram\u00f3n Mir\u00f3, president and CEO of Corporaci\u00f3n Quiport, the company that operates and manages Quito’s Mariscal Sucre International Airport, recalled that this award belongs to all the companies and institutions, as well as to the six thousand collaborators that make Quito’s airport. “It is an honor to lead this great team that has been doing an exceptional job before and during this hard challenge that means the pandemic we are going through. All our employees, as well as our strategic partners, have been able to rise to the occasion and have overcome the problems and difficulties to keep Quito airport at the top. We are grateful to all of them for this great teamwork,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
