American Airlines<\/a><\/strong> inaugurated this Wednesday its 28th destination in Mexico with the opening of the Miami – Chetumal route, continuing with its expansion plan in the country for 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new route will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays on Embraer 175 aircraft, with capacity for 76 passengers, 64 seats in the Main Cabin and 12 seats in Business Class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“American has a commitment of nearly 80 years of service in Mexico and today we are proud to be able to close this 2021 by inaugurating the flight from Miami to Chetumal,” said Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Giraldo, Chief Operating Officer for Mexico, Central America, Colombia and Ecuador at American Airlines. “We are excited to open the doors of Chetumal to more travelers from the United States and around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Governor of the State of Quintana Roo, Carlos Manuel Joaquin Gonzalez, who said, “This pioneering flight in the state capital will benefit the entire southern region and expand its tourism offerings, contributing to our goal of strengthening the economy and development of this region”. Likewise, Dario Flota Ocampo, general director of the Quintana Roo Tourism Promotion Council said “We appreciate the interest that American Airlines has always shown to support the tourist destinations of the Mexican Caribbean, we hope this route will help generate traffic in both directions in a way that will be successful for everyone and will remain for a long time”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This year American celebrates 40 years of service in the state of Quintana Roo, operating from Cancun, and today with our new service in Chetumal we will offer better access to tourists who wish to visit the state capital, as well as the tourist destinations of Bacalar and various nearby archaeological sites,” said Vicky Uzal, commercial director of American Airlines for Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

American currently operates more than 750 weekly flights to 28 destinations in the country, including two destinations in Quintana Roo: Chetumal and Cancun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
