The Netherlands’ KLM<\/strong> and Italy’s ITA Airways<\/strong> announced Friday that they have signed a codeshare agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new agreement allows KLM passengers to book tickets to ITA Airways’ European destinations. Italian airline customers, in turn, can book tickets to KLM destinations in Europe. Both airlines also offer convenient transfer options at Schiphol and Rome Fiumicino airports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership allows KLM customers to book tickets to eight new destinations in Southern Europe. Via Rome, they can fly with ITA to Palermo in Italy, Reggio Calabria, Bari, Brindisi, Lamezia Terme and Trieste, as well as Malta and Tirana in Albania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

KLM currently offers 18 daily flights between Amsterdam and Milan (Malpensa Airport and Linate Airport), Turin, Genoa, Rome, Venice, Florence, Bologna and Catania.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers flying to Catania, Genoa and Venice will have more options thanks to the cooperation. In addition to KLM’s direct daily flights, they can now fly to these destinations with a transfer via ITA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“It is very good news that KLM and ITA Airways have reached an agreement to cooperate on flights within Europe so soon after the demise of Alitalia. Italy is an important aviation market in Europe for both business and leisure travelers. The cooperation is of great importance to better serve our customers from all corners of the world through Schiphol,” commented Pieter Elbers, President and CEO of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
