Airbus<\/a>, which in recent weeks has received a flood of aircraft orders, sees signs that airlines are emerging from the crisis, although the recovery is focused for now on short-haul routes and the omicron variant may involve new restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an interview published Sunday in Le Journal du Dimanche, CEO Guillaume Faury believes that these contracts “are a strong sign” at a time when “airlines are beginning to emerge from the crisis and prepare for the future”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Faury notes that fleet renewal is a “decisive” element for airlines to reduce their emissions, and this is precisely one of the trends to which they will have to adjust in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last Thursday, the European aircraft manufacturer won a double battle against its eternal rival, Boeing, by winning two orders from regular customers of the U.S. group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, Faury insists on being cautious because the situation “remains fragile, as shown by the new restrictions and the omicron variant”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
