Both said they were working to contact passengers so they would not be stranded at airports, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/health-coronavirus-usa-airlines\/update-1-united-delta-cancel-more-than-200-u-s-christmas-eve-flights-amid-covid-surge-idUSL4N2T9072\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Reuters<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2021\/12\/delta-inaugurated-flights-to-panama-from-new-york-orlando-los-angeles.html\">Delta inaugurated flights to Panama from New York, Orlando and Los Angeles.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe nationwide spike in Omicron cases this week has had a direct impact on our flight crews and the people who run our operation. As a result, we\u2019ve unfortunately had to cancel some flights and are notifying impacted customers in advance of them coming to the airport,\u201d United said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delta said it has \u201cexhausted all options and resources &#8212; including rerouting and substitutions of aircraft and crews to cover scheduled flying &#8212; before canceling around 90 flights for Friday.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delta cited potential inclement weather and the impact of the Omicron variant for the cancellations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2021\/12\/united-invest-zero-emission-engines.html\">United becomes largest airline to invest in Zero-Emission engines for regional aircraft.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday, Delta Chief Executive Ed Bastian asked the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to shrink quarantine guidelines for fully vaccinated individuals who experience breakthrough COVID-19 infections, citing the impact on the carrier\u2019s workforce. Bastian asked that the isolation period be cut to five days from the current 10.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That request was echoed both by Airlines for America, a trade group representing major cargo and passenger carriers, which wrote to the CDC on Thursday, and by JetBlue on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The CDC released updated quarantine guidance for healthcare workers on Thursday, cutting the isolation time to seven days for workers who test positive for COVID-19 but are asymptomatic, providing they test negative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Related
