Australian airline Qantas<\/strong> brings forward the return of the Airbus A380<\/strong> to January 11, 2022, with the first superjumbo flying between Sydney and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The double-decker will fly three days a week on this flagship route, along with a weekly Boeing 787 service, an overall reduction from the previously scheduled daily schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline says this is due to the need for its 70-odd Brisbane-based Boeing 787 pilots to undergo 14 days isolation after each international service, which means they can’t be rostered onto other international flights until they leave quarantine. Crew based in most other states are not subject to these limitations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The twin-deck A380 has more than twice as many seats as the Boeing 787, which the airline expects will help balance out the short-term reduction in Sydney-Los Angeles flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the returning A380s will have been upgraded with the latest business class and premium economy seats \u2013 using the same designs as the Dreamliners \u2013 along with two ‘premium lounges’ on the upper deck and a refresh of the first class suites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline expects to reinstate superjumbos on the Sydney-Singapore-London route from June 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
