Citizens from 60 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, USA, Mexico, Panama, Venezuela, among others, will have to process a permit to enter the 26 member countries of the Schengen Area as of the end of 2022, as part of the measures taken by the European Union through its European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By the end of 2022 all visa-exempt foreign visitors will be required to process the ETIAS authorization. The introduction of the ETIAS permit will not change free transit, but it will be a mandatory requirement for entry to Europe,” ETIAS states on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ETIAS permit has few requirements for travelers wishing to enter Europe for a period of less than three months. The procedure is completely online and consists of filling out a form with personal information and travel details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must have a current, biometric and valid passport available. They must also have an email address and a credit or debit card to pay the one-time permit issuance fee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to information on the ETIAS website, the application goes through a pre-screening and background check process before the electronic travel authorization is granted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once approved, the ETIAS permit is valid for three consecutive years or until the passport linked to the permit expires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The information submitted to apply for the ETIAS visa will be checked against security databases such as Interpol and other databases. It is possible that if you have been involved in significant criminal activity your application may be rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Albania, Andorra, Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominica, El Salvador, Georgia, Grenada, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Marshall Islands, Israel, Japan, Kiribati, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, United States, Macau, Macedonia, Malaysia, Mauritius, Mexico, Micronesia, Moldova, Montenegro, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Palau, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Samoa, Serbia, Seychelles, Singapore, Taiwan, Timor Leste, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Vanuatu and Venezuela.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
