{"id":121032,"date":"2022-01-22T21:24:05","date_gmt":"2022-01-22T21:24:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=121032"},"modified":"2022-01-22T21:24:09","modified_gmt":"2022-01-22T21:24:09","slug":"airasia-seeks-to-strengthen-its-cargo-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2022\/01\/airasia-seeks-to-strengthen-its-cargo-business.html","title":{"rendered":"AirAsia seeks to strengthen its cargo business."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Malaysia\u2019s flagship budget airline<strong> AirAsia Group<\/strong> is in early acquisition discussions for air cargo carrier Raya Airways to beef up its logistics business, The Edge Weekly reported on Saturday citing sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The business weekly said the airline has approached businessman Ishak Ismail whose family owns Raya Airways, to acquire the carrier, and are in early conversations, according to people familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2022\/01\/qatar-airways-airbus-hearing-to-be-held-in-april.html\">Qatar Airways and Airbus A350 defects hearing to be held in April.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AirAsia\u2019s logistics unit Teleport said in November it was aiming to expand its fleet of cargo planes and scale up its freight business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Top executives at Raya Airways were not keen to sell the carrier, however, as they have plans for an initial public offering, the report said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>AirAsia was last week classified as a PN17 firm by Malaysia\u2019s stock exchange, a tag given to financially distressed firms.
