Istanbul airport, one of the main terminals in Europe, closed Monday due to an unusual snowfall in the eastern Mediterranean that forced the closure of vaccination centers in Athens and caused power outages and traffic havoc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is the first closure affecting this new terminal, which replaced since 2019 the old Ataturk airport as a hub for Turkish Airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2192 Mexico: AIFA will operate only 6 commercial flights its opening day in March.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Due to adverse conditions, all flights at Istanbul airport have been temporarily halted for safety,” the airport said in a statement on Twitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airfield later reported that operations would be suspended until 4:00am on Tuesday, January 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The snowfall created a pleasant landscape in front of the city’s mosques and main monuments that brought tourists together. But the snow was a headache for the 16 million residents of Turkey’s largest city, which was almost paralyzed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
