After meeting the deadline of the agreement reached between Avianca <\/strong>and a group of more than 100 aviators that opened the possibility for their reinstatement after their contracts ended in the framework of the 2017 strike, the company made the reinstatement official before the Ministry of Labor and confirmed that 104 of a total of 109 pilots accepted the invitation to rejoin the airline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was announced Thursday at a meeting between Avianca and the Ministry of Labor, headed by Minister \u00c1ngel Custodio Cabrera, and the National Association of Colombian Businessmen -ANDI-, led by its President Bruce Mac Master.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aviators began their technical and human factors training phase on January 15 and will finish in December 2022. Once this process is completed, they will be able to fly with the company again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The reinstatement of our pilots is one more step towards building an Avianca for all. We managed to initiate this dialogue to find an agreed and non-judicial solution to this matter, doing the right thing for the company, for its people and for the country, with the purpose of looking forward and growing in a sustainable way with a labor environment based on social dialogue,” said Adrian Neuhauser, President and CEO of Avianca.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This meeting follows several conversations between the company and the pilots, which were aimed at resolving differences and legal processes both nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This event is of immense relevance because it shows that social dialogue is the way to solve even the most difficult events, the most conflictive situations and the greatest differences. As a country we have had multiple conflicts and the only way to resolve them has been to sit down and dialogue to generate conditions that allow us to move forward. I congratulate the parties for having had the courage to ensure that the pilots and their families, the company and the country do well,” said Bruce Mac Master, President of ANDI.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Avianca thanked the Ministry of Labor and ACDAC for their willingness to engage in permanent dialogue to reach the agreement, which will be deposited with the Ministry of Labor in order to shield it from third parties and guarantee its compliance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
