South Africa\u2019s Comair<\/strong> will start operating flights on Thursday, after the aviation regulator reinstated its certificate, the operator of low-cost airline Kulula and franchise partner of British Airways said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) had grounded Comair\u2019s planes indefinitely on Sunday for unresolved safety issues, suspending its air operator certificate and stranding hundreds of passengers, Reuters<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAfter a thorough review of Comair\u2019s documentation, the SACAA has lifted the precautionary suspension of Comair\u2019s licence,\u201d Chief Executive Glenn Orsmond said in a statement late on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re pleased that the situation is finally resolved.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline aims to restore normal operations as soon as possible to assist customers, he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In its notice on Saturday, the regulator pointed to Comair\u2019s safety problems in the past month, ranging from engine failures and malfunctions to landing gear malfunctions, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator said its investigation turned up three findings that \u201cpose an immediate risk\u201d to be tackled immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Comair said no safety and security findings were made on flight operations or maintenance, adding that the regulator\u2019s findings related to quality assurance, the structure and personnel of the safety department and repair documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
