While the joint bidding process for Rio de Janeiro’s Gale\u00e3o and Santos Dumont airports is delayed and must be completed by 2024 at the earliest, the next round of airport privatization, scheduled for this year, has 13 foreign and domestic groups interested, according to the government. Congonhas airport, in S\u00e3o Paulo, is the main attraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new round is expected to take place in the second half of July. The government’s initial plan was to hold the auction between May and June, but the concession must still be approved by the Federal Court of Accounts (TCU), reported O Globo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The studies are in the technical area of the court and only then will they be analyzed by the ministers. This stage is expected to be concluded next month. The proposals were sent to the Court at the end of December. The Brazilian General Aviation Association (Abag) requested the suspension of the process analyzing the concession, alleging that the modeling excludes the Congonhas sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airport will be auctioned with ten other terminals (in Minas Gerais, Par\u00e1 and Mato Grosso do Sul). The public announcement will authorize the winner to contract a regional administrator to operate the small terminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The modeling foresees a minimum bid of R$ 255 million for Congonhas and a total investment of R$ 5,889 million.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the bidders are the French groups Vinci, ADP and Egis, Spain’s Aena, Switzerland’s Zurich and Germany’s AviAlliance, as well as Qatar’s Hamad and Argentina’s Inframerica. Also the Brazilian groups CCR, Socicam, P\u00e1tria, JSHF and Infra Concess\u00f5es.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
