{"id":125274,"date":"2022-04-22T16:45:09","date_gmt":"2022-04-22T16:45:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/?p=125274"},"modified":"2022-04-22T16:45:39","modified_gmt":"2022-04-22T16:45:39","slug":"volaris-plans-fly-to-los-angeles-from-mexico-citys-new-airport","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aviacionaldia.com\/en\/2022\/04\/volaris-plans-fly-to-los-angeles-from-mexico-citys-new-airport.html","title":{"rendered":"Volaris plans to fly to Los Angeles from Mexico City&#8217;s new airport"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Mexican airline <strong>Volaris <\/strong>plans to operate international flights to Los Angeles (LAX) from the new Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) located north of Mexico City, which could make it the first national airline to start a route abroad from the airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The route between AIFA and LAX will be an addition to the airline\u2019s current flights from Mexico City International Airport, the company said on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><strong>\u2192 <a href=\"https:\/en\/2022\/04\/volaris-announces-new-san-jose-bogota-route.html\">Volaris announces new San Jose \u2013 Bogota route starting in June.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volaris said it requested for the flight authorization on April 7 and expects to start operations in December this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The route\u2019s commencement, however, will rely on Mexico recovering its Category 1 air safety rating with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, Volaris said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The U.S. aviation authority in May 2021 had downgraded the country to a Category 2 rating \u2014 the lowest. That barred Mexican carriers from adding new U.S. flights and limited the ability of airlines to carry out marketing agreements with one another.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Photo: Alan Wilson\/<a
