Copa Airlines<\/strong> incorporates a Boeing 737-800BCF<\/strong> (Boeing Converted Freighter) cargo-only aircraft with the capacity to transport 21.7 tons per flight into Copa Airlines Cargo service. With this aircraft, the airline plans to increase the kilos transported by 50% vs. 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Due to the growing demand in the region, Copa Airlines has seen the opportunity to expand Copa Airlines Cargo services and deepen our participation in this competitive market, taking advantage of the benefits offered by the Hub of the Americas\u00ae, located at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City. To achieve this, we made the decision to convert one passenger aircraft to freighter status and are evaluating the feasibility of doing so with a second aircraft,” said Jaime Alvarez, Copa Airlines’ Sr. Director of Cargo and Courier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In order to boost the growth of Copa’s cargo operation, the airline held a demonstration of its new aircraft at the cargo hangar at Tocumen International Airport for customers and cargo agency representatives, sharing information about its additional capacity, routes, safety details and reliability of the operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The HP 1522 WW registered freighter aircraft began operations on March 28 with weekly flights to Central America, Santo Domingo and Havana. Other potential destinations are being considered as part of the more than 70 destinations operated by Copa Airlines Cargo through the airline’s commercial passenger routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the expansion of its cargo capacity, Copa Airlines Cargo will enhance connectivity in the region by offering these services from Panama, contributing positively to the development of economic activity in the country and the region by boosting exports in sectors such as agribusiness, pharmaceuticals, perishable goods, as well as the Colon Free Zone, among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
